EYE & VISION FORMULA contains Bilberry Extract (standardized to greater than 25% proanthocyanidins), Eyebright Extract, Taurine (USP grade), Lutein (from Marigold Flowers), Zeaxanthin (from Marigold Flowers), Standardized Fruit Blend® (high antioxidant powder from extracts of Grape, Cranberry, Pomegranate, Blueberry, Apple, Blackberry, Bilberry, Raspberry, and Strawberry), VinCare® (whole grape extract), Alpha-Lipoic Acid, Zinc, Selenium, and Bioperine® (a black pepper extract enhancing absorption of all ingredients).

BILBERRY

The formula contains a standardized extract containing greater than 27% anthocyanins (and greater than 25% anthocyanidins). Anthocyanins act as potent antioxidants and phosphodiesterase inhibitors, effective in ameliorating capillary resistance and permeability. Anthocyanins play an important role in improving retinal sensibility in myopic patients.

EYEBRIGHT EXTRACT 4:1

The herb Eyebright is rich in iridoid glycosides, flavonoids, and tannins. Its name derives from its traditional use as nutritional support for eyes in external poultices, teas, tinctures, fluid extracts, and whole herb for dietary use.

TAURINE

Taurine is found in high concentrations in eyes. It is the most abundant amino acid in the retina of all species studied. People suffering from retinitis pigmentosa show abnormal blood levels of taurine. Decreased taurine levels within the eye have been linked to this disease.

LUTEIN & ZEAXANTHIN

Marigold lutein contains the same lutein naturally found in spinach, kale and other green leafy vegetables. Studies link the important eye-health benefits of this natural antioxidant with reducing the likelihood of age-related macular degeneration and other eye conditions. Lutein’s benefits for eye health are based in part on lutein’s antioxidant properties that provide protective effects against blue light.

Zeaxanthin is a strong antioxidant member of the carotenoid family that may be important for macular and retinal health. Macular pigment, which is primarily composed of lutein and zeaxanthin, protects the retina from damage due to light exposure and oxidative stress. High macular pigment density helps retain visual sensitivity as we age.

Standardized Fruit Blend ®

Standardized Fruit Blend® (SFB) is a nutritious source material (powder) having extremely high ORAC value derived from extracts of Grape, Cranberry, Pomegranate, Blueberry, Apple, Blackberry, Bilberry, Raspberry, and Strawberry). In fact, this powder has an ORAC value in excess of 9,000 units per grams. Because excessive exposure to free radicals causes eye damage (including cataracts), Standardized Fruit Blend can be a major contributor to eliminating free-radical damage in the eye and elsewhere in the body.

Vincare ® Whole Grape Extract

VinCare® Whole Grape Extract contains highly bioavailable bioflavonoid complexes that in research studies have been shown to have powerful antioxidant capability. The Oligomeric Proanthocyanidins (OPC) in grape extract are able to strengthen collagen fibers in aging or damaged connective tissue and can act as a preventative against connective tissue degradation.

ALPHA-LIPOIC ACID

This powerful antioxidant, enhances metabolism and substantially raises glutathione levels in the body. Alpha-lipoic acid has benefits in the body and specific benefits to the eyes.
